"There's more than one side, John. He is a man who served honorably in the U.S. military, which a lot of his critics have not. ..."

U.S. Code, Title 36.
And you know what they're going to do? They're going to say, look, all this stuff in isolation doesn't really mean much -- the flag pin, not putting the hand over the heart. But when you put it together with the associations with Wright and Ayers and Rezko, there's this idea that he's not particularly connected to America.

-Monica Crowley

No Matter How Far
No, it is not impossible. But as I said, it is improbable. She can do all the things I said and run a perfect course, but something else has to intervene, whether it's a scandal or Rezko or Reverend Wright's cousin coming out of the closet. She needs something else that's a game changer.

-Pat Buchanan

No Matter How Far
They're not going to let it happen. I mean, there's a building amount of rage and impatience with the way the Clintons are playing this right now. The party knows it'll be disastrous to have a big fight at the convention. They want to settle this by early June.

-Clarence Page

Medvedev for Putin
Medvedev is another generation from Putin. He's a post-Cold War baby, if you will. He was born after the Stalin years. If you read his remarks that he made in his inauguration, he talks a lot about restoring civil institutions. He does want to bring the old Soviet Union and Russia into the modern age, and he knows that he has to move closer to the West. So, I mean, I think Putin is still very powerful. This is obviously his hand-picked successor. But this is a new president, a new generation, with his own ideas.

No Matter How Far
hese are the reasons why she should stay in the race: Electability; experience; 366 delegates; a possible October surprise regarding Obama. We know all about Hillary. I mean, her record has been public for years, and all of her shortcomings. Her husband Bill brings a lot to the ticket, particularly in healing the relationships of Americans around the world. Those are what she can boast about.

-John McLaughlin

Reverend Wright
Reverend Jeremiah Wright has turned into Barack Obama's Bill Clinton; that is, somebody who ostensibly supports the candidate, and yet at every turn is doing grave damage to his candidate. I mean, I think every time Wright opens his mouth, he reminds voters that there's something jarring there. There's a disconnect between the image that they have of Obama and the reality that may be Obama.

-Monica Crowley

Stayin' Alive
Two things, John. And the most important one is he has been unable to connect with middle America. And secondly, the Reverend Wright thing, the "bitter" comment about folks clutching their Bibles and their guns and their bigotry, all of these things have painted Barack Obama out of the mainstream of American politics, where he seemed to be, and something more exotic and left-wing over on the left.

-Pat Buchanan

Countdown to August
Well, I see not enough votes out there for Hillary Clinton to clinch it before it's over. If she can get a string of victories -- and I don't see a foundation for that right now -- but if she can do it, she can begin to change the minds of the super- delegates. But, you know, this is still a big if.

-Clarence Page

A Political Exotic?
Well, when he was winning, we said collectively he had the coolness and the steadiness of a John F. Kennedy. When he's losing, he seems effete. He seems haughty. I mean, he's the same person, but a different set of adjectives are now being attached to him. And she did transform herself into a whiskey-drinking beer chaser.

-Eleanor Clift

Big Hair Is Back
The children have been in the custody of Texas state authorities. Over 100 children have already been moved to foster care facilities. Mothers want their children where they belong, however -- the Mormon mothers -- with them.

-John McLaughlin

Debat Deux
Her argument is basically, "Look, I know that Bill and I have some issues. We've got our scandals, and we will still have our scandals, but our scandals are predictable. You know what they're going to be. You might get a sex scandal, maybe some conflict of interest, maybe some financial shenanigans, but they're predictable. With this other guy, he is an unknown quantity and you have no idea what's going to blow up in your faces."

-Monica Crowley

Will the Real Barack Obama Please Stand Up
I think he basically has gotten by it. But I think it does reflect the problem that he has, which is that, to some extent, he appeals to the people who drink wine and not to the people who drink beer.

-Mortimer B. Zuckerman

Thirty-Five Percent Left
I think June 3rd is unrealistic, but shortly after that. June 3rd is the last primary, and after that the only excuse super-delegates have is that they want to be wooed. Everybody loves to be wooed. But they're really -- Monica's right. They've got to get their battle with McCain together.

-Clarence Page

Will the Real Barack Obama Please Stand Up
There is no evidence in the polls yet that there is a backlash among white working-class voters. And, in fact, Hillary's negatives are the ones that have gone up. She may have nicked him, but she has really cut herself with this approach.

-Eleanor Clift

Debat Deux
The dominant way people vote is on the basis of their perceived character. And those questions that were put by the two hosts of that show, of that debate, were right on the money.

-John McLaughlin

Tough Love Time
Well, look, Hillary and Obama have both said that when they become commander in chief, they will listen to the generals. The generals have warned them, both privately and in public in this testimony, against the kind of precipitous withdrawal that they're advocating on the campaign trail. Therefore, I think that John McCain, given his background, would understand the dynamics far better than either one of the other two.

-Monica Crowley

Benedict XVI Stop By
He has a 58 percent approval rating, which is twice what Bush has. Bush would kill for his ratings.

-David Corn

Tour or Detour?
I do think these protests, as long as they're non-violent, are good things to show the world what decent people think of what's being done in Tibet. But the president should not boycott the Chinese Olympics. He should go as he said he would.

-Pat Buchanan

All The Time He Needs
The military leadership are practically in open rebellion against this president because of how this is affecting the military. The military is strained, overstretched. Fifty-two percent of the West Point graduating class of 2002 left the minute they could get out.

-Eleanor Clift

Catholic Tradition
Here's where the pope differs with conservatives. All right, put the list up on the board. The death penalty -- he's against it and his predecessor delivered an encyclical against it. Buchanan's for it. Poverty -- he wants more funding. Climate change -- he's a big believer in climate change. The U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights -- he's ready to campaign for it.
