Army bases aren't defined by their Confederate namesakes
President Trump on Wednesday ruled out renaming U.S. Army bases such as Fort Bragg, Fort Benning, and Fort Hood, which are named after Confederate generals. Trumps says this because those bases have a...history of Winning, Victory, and Freedom. The United States of America trained and deployed our HEROES on these Hallowed Grounds, and won two World Wars. Therefore, my Administration will not even consider the renaming of these Magnificent and Fabled Military Installations...
Although I wish the president would show more sensitivity for the legitimate moral debate here, I'm in broad agreement. These bases are no longer defined by those they were named after.

The Left’s Coming War on Cops
As it rises in prominence, the issue of defunding police will divide the Democratic Party more than the GOP. For while the hard left sees cops in ideological and class terms as racist and fascist, the right, by and large, sees the police as the last line of defense against the anarchy we saw erupt when there were not enough cops in New York and D.C. to control the mobs looting Fifth Avenue and Georgetown.
Newly painted in huge yellow letters on 16th Street, just north of the White House, is the slogan: “Defund the Police.”

The Pastor Who Called Trump’s White House ‘Holy Ground’ Is Raking in the Bucks
When Trump told her he was running for president and wanted her to be his “bridge” to the Christian right, she introduced him to 30 or 40 pastors at a time.
The One Voice Prayer Movement launched out of the White House a year ago by Pastor Paula White is a case study in how to leverage religious connections for political gain. Appointed special adviser to the Office of Faith and Opportunity initiative by President Trump, White is mobilizing religious-right leaders to promote Trump’s Reopen America message and defend his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Column: ‘Defund the police’ is bold, but it might just bring necessary change
When my youth consultant, aka my son, told me that the Black Lives Matter movement had come up with the slogan #DefundThePolice, I thought sarcastically, “Great, what a terrific gift to President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign.”
Full disclosure: I said the same thing about the name of Black Lives Matter itself. In both cases, I soon was proved wrong. Sure, Trump made hay out of using both to smear Democrats and other liberals up and down, like Sen. Joseph McCarthy hunting Commies under every bed in the 1950s.
